Some H&R Block customers faced hours of outages on Tax Day
Some H&R Block customers experienced outages while trying to file their taxes on the last day. The issues began on Sunday night and were resolved by Monday afternoon. The outage affected certain desktop software users, preventing them from filing their returns. However, the company’s website, which is primarily used by self-filing customers, was unaffected. H&R Block suggested affected customers either try filing again or print, file, and mail the forms to the IRS. Some customers reported being charged multiple times when attempting to file. The company assured that any temporary authorization holds would expire and customers would not be charged. Customers who couldn’t e-file and owed the IRS money were advised to mail in their payments along with the 1040-V voucher by the midnight deadline to avoid penalties.
